Daniel Lee Wheeler

Daniel Wheeler, 73, of Philmont, New York, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. He will be remembered for the love, guidance, laughter, and memories he shared with those closest to him. His presence brought comfort and strength to his family, and his love will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind. Daniel Wheeler was the beloved husband of Kathy Wheeler, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Dale Wheeler (Cheryl Wheeler) and Brianne Natoli (Steve Natoli), and a proud Papa to Kylie and Lee Wheeler, Matteo Natoli, Stephan Bosko . He treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren and took great pride in watching them grow. Whether gathered together for holidays, family celebrations, or simply enjoying time together, his family was always at the heart of his life. Born on February 1, 1953 in Hudson NY, Daniel was the son of Sidney and Margaret of Philmont NY. He spent his whole life in the Philmont community, where he made lasting friendships and was remembered for his boisterous laugh, his kindness, and love for his friends. Daniel was a life member of the Mellenville Fire Company. He enjoyed watching "Guns and horses", Green Bay Packers and the New York Mets, and some of his happiest moments were spent in Disney World with his family. Those who knew and loved him will remember him not only for the things he accomplished, but for the way he made people feel. He was a man who loved deeply, cared fiercely for his family, and left an unforgettable mark on the lives of those around him. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by a sister Debra Pierce and numerous in-laws and nieces (great nieces) and nephews (great nephews). He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers David and Derek Wheeler. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. His greatest legacy is the family he loved so dearly and the countless memories he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Mellenville Fire Company and/or Community Hospice. An intimate celebration of life will be held at a later date.
