Charles E. Dempsey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles E. Dempsey, age 52, was called home by his heavenly father on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017, in Hudson, New York. He was born May 23rd, 1965 in Hudson, New York to the late James Beverly and Penny Dempsey. He received his formal education in the Hudson City school district. As an avid sports fanatic, Charles excelled in track-and-field, and basketball during his school years. After high school, Charles went on to work as a fulltime carpet installer. He was also an employee at Emsig (the Button Factory), and a telephone operator for MaBell. Charles, often referred to as “Chuck,” was an enthusiast of the original hip hop music genre - Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC, and Erik B. & Rakim were his favorite artists. He even mimicked their B-boy style, thus coining himself the “Beat Master Wakim!” Chuck loved to look his best, appreciated a quality baseball cap, was a lover of karate, and he really enjoyed playing pool. He was such a strategic pool player that he became a member of the world’s largest pool league – American Poolplayers Association (APA). With nearly a 20-year stint playing pool, Chuck’s skill level ranking was a 6. The highest level one can earn is 7. During his latter years, Charles developed a supreme passion for watching tennis, wrestling, and the Food Channel; his most prideful dish was lasagna. Charles was well known within the community and loved spending quality time with friends and family. To cherish his memories, he leaves behind his sisters Patricia Snyder, Glenda & Janie Dempsey, and Katrina Sheldon all of Hudson, NY, and LaToya Dwight (Lakeem) of Atlanta, GA, Phyllis Bell of Charlotte, NC, Rosa Priscilla Wideman (William) of Albany, NY, and Beverly Timmons of Schenectady, NY; brothers Gary Dempsey (Bance), and Warren Sheldon both of Hudson, NY, Thomas & William Beverly both of Hartford, CT, and James Beverly of Syracuse, NY; great aunt Bertha Moody of Falls Village, CT; great uncle Eddie Davis (Betty) of Hudson, NY, aunt Alice “Faye” Hedgepeth of Hudson, NY; and uncles Howard Mackey of Hudson, NY, and Wallace Mackey of Pittsfield, MA. He was predeceased by his mother Penny Dempsey, and father James Beverly; sisters Sadie Bacquilod and Margaret Lewis; and brothers James Dempsey, William Beverly, James Beverly, and John Beverly. Charles also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. He will always be in our hearts, and will be missed immensely. In the meantime, if he crosses your mind while you’re wearing a baseball cap, in honor of Chuck, tip it to the side! Visiting will be Friday October 27, from (10-11:00)AM at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home in Hudson. Services will begin at 11:30 at the funeral home with Rev. Ed Cross officiating.
