Helmuth “Hank” Renken passed away after an extended illness on January 31, 2016 with his daughters by his side. Hank emigrated from Wulstoff Germany when he was 8 years old. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary of 53 years and his sister Ella Shanahan who passed away just last week. Hank is survived by his daughters Linda Renken and Susan Renken-Mintzer, his sister, Margaret Fischer, his grandchildren, William and Ellen Mintzer and many nieces and nephews. Hank served proudly in the Army Air Corp in the China-Burma-India Theater in World War II. He enjoyed a long successful career designing punch presses and worked for many years at the former V& O Press Company in Hudson. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in the town of Greenport. Hank lived his long life with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity and compassion. He was much loved and will be sorely missed. A fund has been established in his memory through the Salvation Army to assist veterans and their families, contributions can be sent to: Salvation Army 20 S.
